Minecraft
Stoke runs Minecraft: Java Edition servers: Paper (plugins, and faster), Fabric (mods) or vanilla, chosen when you make one. The server and the Java it needs are downloaded when you make it; Stoke ships neither.
Whoever runs a server accepts Mojang’s EULA for it, ticked in the panel when the server is made.
Servers
Section titled “Servers”- Versions: pin a server to a Minecraft version on Maintenance, which says when a newer one is out.
- Configure: memory, players, difficulty, game mode, view distance and the rest of
server.properties, a world border, and how the world is made (seed, type, structures, hardcore) before it’s made. - Game rules change at once while the server runs.
- The console, over RCON, with the server’s log beside it.
- Access: the whitelist, operators and bans are the panel’s People, and a change reaches a running server at once.
- Backups while the server runs: Stoke pauses its saving for the copy.
Mods and plugins
Section titled “Mods and plugins”From Modrinth: mods for Fabric, plugins for Paper, datapacks and resource packs.
- Search and install with their dependencies; Stoke checks each is made for the server’s version and loader.
- Modpacks (
.mrpack) import whole: the mods, their configs, and the version they need. - Saved sets to switch between, and config files edited in the panel.
The companions
Section titled “The companions”- The Stoke plugin on Paper, and the Stoke server mod on Fabric, both installed by the panel.
- They report players’ positions, chat and the ground that changes as players play, so the map and the Hearth stay live.
- Both will also be published on Modrinth, for anyone installing them by hand.
Players
Section titled “Players”- Linking: a player links their Minecraft player to their panel account by saying a code in chat. See Joining a server.
- Faces from players’ skins, in the Hearth and on the map.
- Chat both ways between the game and the Hearth.
The map
Section titled “The map”Drawn by Stoke from the world’s own files, with no map mod needed:
- the Overworld, the Nether and the End, each a map of its own;
- biome tints, or the game’s own map colors;
- ground players change appears as they play, between the game’s saves;
- the game’s own coordinates, in blocks, and the biome and height under the pointer.
Not yet
Section titled “Not yet”- Forge and NeoForge, CurseForge, and Bedrock servers.
- The launcher starting Minecraft, once Mojang approves Stoke’s Microsoft sign-in.
- Voice in the game: voice is from the browser for now.
